JUNE 2018
Summer arrived sometime toward the end of May, and thankfully stayed with us for our outside broadcast from the beautiful Killone Abbey in Co. Clare. We were delighted to be working again with Fr. Pat Malone & the wonderful Ballyea/Clarecastle Youth Choir and their director Claire Connellan for the liturgy; having worked with them a few years ago in Clarecastle Church. It was a slightly different OB for us all this time around however, given it was outdoors in a 12th century ruin!
However, it was a beautiful celebration of the liturgy, and, thanks to some wonderful footage from CineCopters beforehand, and also from Fionn Mac Giolla Chuda & his trusty JimmyJib on the day, we were able to give those viewing the Mass a proper view of the ruins of the Abbey, St. John's Well, and their beautiful surrounds.
The community in the area came together for the Mass, from creating beautiful flower arrangements for the interior of the Abbey to bringing down pews arriving from the local church. There mustn't have been a Child of Prague statue indoors in the county the night before the broadcast, because despite having to pause our rehearsal a few times the day before due to some showers, we were blessed with a sunny dry day for our broadcast!
You can watch it back online the RTE Player here
(It will be there until June 24th)
Our last group of Transition Years came to us at the end of May from Kilcullen and produced a great show to finish the Kairos TYTV Studio Days with. The days have proved so popular we've already taken a huge amount of bookings for next term from September right through to December. Ger will now be doing a bit of belated spring cleaning and adding a few extra bits and pieces to the sets in the studio for the new term. If you want to get an idea of what happens during the TYTV days, just take a look here
Now that the second and third level students are finished for the summer, we're firming up the final bits and pieces for our new post-graduate course in conjunction with St. Patrick's College Maynooth, which is starting this September. You can find out all about it by clicking here.
Our radio production crew have been on the road North, South, East and West a lot recently, working with the wonderful Children's Choir in Raheen in Limerick, and also with Rev. Kiran Wimberly on her Celtic Psalms radio service from the idyllic retreat centre Corrymeela in Ballycastle, Co. Antrim, which is almost as far North as you can get! They'll be on the road North again for Sunday June 10th, broadcasting Mass from Clonard Monastery in Belfast.
Social Justice Ireland launched their Budget 2019 proposals during a seminar which we live-streamed for them called Budget Choices 2019. The seminar, and more information about their proposals can be found on their website https://www.socialjustice.ie/content/publications/budget-choices-2019-seminar
We're working on several edits in-house after filming for some corporate clients which are keeping some of our staff inside a lot, so if someone could organise an edit suite that works perfectly outdoors in the sunshine, it would be appreciated!
Finally, we're looking forward to the preparations for the World Meeting Of Families Festival, which are starting to ramp up as the big week in August draws closer. You can check out www.worldmeeting2018.ie for more information on the Festival.
